I love simplicity in sculpture design. This composition began with this wonderful slice of a gigantic pipe. I wanted to keep that the central focus, with a minimal accent and base.
I have an affinity for old long crop-cutting blades, and was able to incorporate this full length treasure into this piece. The other accent I used was a piece of steel channel with a rock enbedded in it by the force of the Eel River.
For the base I used a tire rim. I have added bolted arcs for extended ground support. Later I reduced that for a simpler look. I later added a plow disc the a basic base to extend the ground contac for support with out loosing the simpliciy of line.
This piece is a classic favorite of mine. |
