I think of this sculpture as if it was a monolith in a miniature world.
It reflects some of the values of female based spirituality in ancient societies. The snake and moon would be about the amazing reproductive powers of women, the Goddess.
I left part of this stone in a rough state, for texture and to emphasize the vein that runs through the stone. I enjoyed cutting out the moon as a negative space and the relief treatment of the snake.
One of the pleasures of a stone piece is the feel if the surface.
This stone needs to live inside to protect it. |
