My earliest art making was making figurative sculptures & watercolor paintings.
I was deeply influenced by my daily commute through the sensuousness hills, between western Petaluma and the coast.
I have kept an abstract watercolor of this scene from that series of work.
The original bronze sculpture sold. But I had made a mold from that, to cast it in more affordable material, cast stone (cement).
Both the painting and the figure reflect the flow of the landscape. A very good mutual influence for my purposes. |
