I like to make new shapes using multiples of a piece. The repeating pattern is then used in a new or unexpected way

I had fun with the image created by a jack stand. There are four sides but it seems to be triangular. With these six jack stands, I made two stacks, which I threaded on a center pole, and welded to each other. In the new whole stack, there develops a sense of ascending and descending, in size and position in the stack. I attached the pole to the base of an office chair.
Now it is a rolling tower, that is mobile, light weight, and has very interesting lines and spaces.
I like the energy created by the interaction of lines and various shapes formed in this sculpture. |
