As you can see, I like circles and the play of color and light. One of my goals was to make it light weight and to occupy, but not visually overpower, a large space.
I began by playing with the arc and its relationship with the base.
Where I didn’t weld, I joined parts in this sculpture with “found” electrical copper wire, stripped of its plastic coating.
I trapped the glass by joining two metal rings with wire.
I like the ability of the chains to twist and turn.
Making the links from “found” acrylic strips was quite labor-intensive. I cut what were scraps, then drilled, sanded and polished each piece.
“Found” leaves accent the base. The hooks are cut from “found” spirals.
I later added a strand and redirected the three to a patterned joining of the arch. I like the interaction of the various circles and spaces and the play of the ruby colored glass and acrylic. |
