The many “found rake-heads” began a series.
I enjoyed investigating the various patterns formed by different orientations of these rakes with each other and within a circle. The tines in Blueteeth, are an interesting line. In the piece In 2:4 Tine, the tines are joined at the bracket tips, and create interesting lines and divide the quarters of a circle. In Just Two Old Rakes, the tines are back to back and the brackets are more noticeable.
For this sculpture, I made two sets of bracket-featured-in-a-circle orientation, and one set of tine-featured orientation.
I mounted these on a pole that slips onto a peg in the 8 pointed-wide spread base. I capped it with a small wire basket.
So far, this piece is the “flagship” of the series, as it blatantly explores several orientations. The tall vertical format allows some movement, while the wall pieces do not.
It’s a fun piece for the garden. |
