Light coming through the glass in contrast with the solid, dark metal base is interesting from many angles. It’s a great piece for a garden.

This base had a former life as a shield on a rototiller. It was passed on to me several years ago by a friend. As it sometimes is with very special & extraordinary “found objects”, I didn’t want to prematurely “spend” this treasure. While in my boneyard, part of it became an accent on a sculpture called Ziggy.

After dismantling the hardware on it this, I planned and constructed a weighted framework to support it upright.

The next step was to plan and execute a way to support the glass near the solid metal wall. This had to be a way of trapping the glass against the metal. Brackets could be welded but not to the glass.

Cotter pins make it possible to take this apart for transport.

The second circle was the last part to discover. I like the lightness & depth it gives the composition. This is a very satisfying piece for me.
