This sculpture celebrates one of my favorite scraps. It is the negative space that was made by the process of cutting out repeating patterns. It was discarded in a dumpster. I spotted it, and with permission, joyfully rescued it.
I am delighted with the way this composition came together.
This piece generates an energy, visual interest.
It was named for the integrity of eye movement forward and backward along its sides, as in a word that “reads”the same forward and backwards, like the word “radar.”
The circular, heavier base, patterned side pieces and the two arcs at the top, interact simply and create a strong presence.
Its size and the material make it versatile, it can live inside or out. |
