This sculpture plays with adornment using color, sound and contrasting metals.
I wanted to suspend colors inside a sculpture and decided a bicycle wheel would have a finished look, be light weight and provide varied spacing for points of origin.
This "yolk" slips on to the two solid rod supports that are welded to a steel base which had been mounted inside a light stainless steel ring.
I added a top that echoes the circular theme accented with decorative brass and a stainless steel filter.
Along the side supports hang metal discs that chime in the gentle breeze.
It was fun engineering this playful, unique sculpture. |
