I love glass and color ! I fell in love with the cobalt tiles with fused glass made by
Kerry Brooks, who is working from Minneapolis, MN. At Earthwood Gallery, in Boulder, CO, I bought four Cobalt tiles.
At home, I planned my first piece. The tile needed to be set much like a gem stone in metal. Some friends had given an aluminum antenna. I cut up the extensions into tubes, planned the bracket and ways to glue these tubes to it. This became a very labor intensive task to complete. The square tile is mounted were secured inside the aluminum tubes and with each other, with glue.
The effect is to showcase the tile with the radials. The simple lines draw focus on the fused cobalt. While the metal can be outside, I think the fused glass needs to be protected from moisture. |
