| This ancient shovel in my boneyard became more than its former life. I became intrigued with the patterns and deterioration of the metal in this one piece. As I explored possible ways to highlight these, the arrangement of the simplest elements evolved. Together theses three pieces of metal evoke a power beyond composition or the separate parts.
Was it perhaps an altar ?
The sculpture is suggestive of ancient ritual, hence the vague name, Artifacts. |
