Six metal tabs with numerals stamped on them, were the impetus for this sculpture. As I cleaned them, I realized they were copper not steel. I had selected a flattened patterned steel scrap, that was darkly rusted to be the base. I added the two arcs to top the composition. Polished the tabs made a distinctive contrast to the base. Not being weldable, made the process more interesting. I attached them to the steel base with brass screws and nuts.
I accented the tabs with brass discs and "s" hangers. This compact sculpture of mixed metals has a strong visual impact, and narrative hints that engage viewers. I am quite pleased with Numeration ! |
