This a feminist statement about loss of identity & respect. These transparent female forms are such a metaphor.
I wanted the sculpture to be a simple elegant statement about women.
For several years, I saved the forms & figured how I could display them. Early stages were too tall and heavy, awkward to carry.
I modified the display base to use a “brass” floor lamp. Now it was portable and light weight.
Joining and supporting these fragile forms, was an enjoyable process.
I worked with brass fasteners & accents, and added acrylic supports with epoxy and acrylic solvent.
The new display frame impacts the viewer at a shoulder to shoulder level. It’s a simple statement of protest, stimulus for narratives and interpretations.
Like women, it needs protection. |
