Springs are one of my favorite metal pieces for making sculpture. This bare metal box-springs, cut in two pieces was a rare gift from a dear friend.
Putting the parts back to back doubled the visual impact, and gave it light-weight stability.
I built a simple frame for added stability and made it modular for transport.
Adding the free moving lids made this rich visual array into a musical wind instrument.
