I saved the female silhouette shapes I had made of copper & acrylic. This mobile had been my very first entry in any show!(80’s Bodega Bay Fishermen’s Festival).
Now, I frosted the clear acrylic body parts & glued them in layers
on a black plastic box for a background & support.
I next created a distressed patina on the similar shapes of copper, and epoxied these to the acrylic slices. This added color and interesting texture to the layers of slices.
It now had strong a figure-ground contrast & copper wrapped edge of the base.
The copper dominates the light slices beneath. The black background is subdued.
Lots of interest is created with some simple shapes. |
