The decorative piece in the spire is called a bird nest. It is manufactured, but was found by me. To create interest, I lined the two outside edges of the similar verticals with a wavey scrap.
In the opposite direction I added a scalloped scrap. The base is sturdy and solid.
It is a stately piece !
