|This wonderful aluminum disc was a gift from a friend, who knew it would make a special sculpture. |
I wanted it to be medium height, with simple lines, possible disc movement on the supports and easy to transport.
I chose to make a stable wide-spread base. I removed 27# of excess metal with the cutting torch. I ground the paint off what was left for a heavy base.
The aluminum disc could not be directly welded to steel. I “pegged & trapped” it between two steel brackets . I really enjoyed the engineering part of this 6 piece process.
The support metal contrasts with & sets off the aluminum disc.
The wind gently moves the disc in a "namasté", bowing gesture.
This unique sculpture can be calming in a garden.
