|This is a happy union of two separate sculptures. |
The top was accented, by sight and sound. I had drilled lids and copper-wired them loosely to the bracketed edges of the ring, to give it jingle. The added barrel hoop could move with the wind.
But Jingle needed height and a stable base. I had first made it medium sized, with focus on the strong ring.
Now, I wanted simplicity of line, and less weight.
I trimmed the horizontal part of it's base & supporting rods at the lower sides of the ring. Now i could fit it to the lower parts of the new base.
This created a wind instrument as well as a visual sculpture.
