At
the Sebastopol Center for the Arts, Saturday and Sunday, the
4th and 5th of October, 2003, three teams of sculptors created
different sculptures from identical materials.
The
public came and watched sculpting methods and processes and
followed the progress of the teams over the 2 days.
The
teams worked until a 3:30 pm deadline on Sunday. The Finished
sculptures will be displayed in Sebastopol's Public Spaces at
a later date.
How
It Worked:
Teams were chosen so that various skills were represented on
each team, and each member paid $50 into a general fund for
Jam expenses. No more than $50 per team was to be spent on fasteners,
paint, finishes, etc.
Trading
and bargining were allowed during the collaboration. Each participant
brought a "cool" found object to be used by any team.
Any tools could be used to manipulate the materials.
